Christopher Petrie & Tony Ebdon, 53 35'00.52" N 99 02'29.10" W, Lake Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada - July 2009
On June 1 2009, Tony Ebdon and Christopher Petrie embarked on an epic adventure, registered with The Big Wild.

In 87 days, we paddled more than 2000km from Fort Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on the North Saskatchewan River, to Knee Lake, Manitoba, just 325 kilometers short of Hudson Bay.

As directors of Canadian Shield we raised $950.22 in 2009 for TheBigWild.org, that was matched by Mountain Equipment Co-op for Canadian Parks and Wildlife Society (CPAWS).

We received a grant from Alberta Ecotrust for community and environmental initiatives in Alberta.

We are dedicated to community, the environment and having fun!

We built 50 birdhouses from recycled fence boards and plywood. Un-painted, ready for nature. Sponsor a birdhouse. To avoid laminated cards attached to the birdhouse, we will post your name on this page for all to see. They will be put up in Edmonton's river valley.

Tony Ebdon and Christopher C. Petrie embarked on an epic canoe adventure in 2009 that would take them more than 2000 kilometers across three provinces.
Our goal? To canoe from Fort Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on the North Saskatchewan River to Fort Prince of Wales on Hudson Bay in Manitoba.
You are invited to follow our journey. Our adventure may differ from others you have read. We learned many adventurers often travel into a town, visit the grocery store, then leave. We explored ghost towns, historic parks and went to a bar in every community. We were often invited into various social circles, family homes and by the reputation of some, the most dangerous hotel in Manitoba. Our stories of adventure and social encounters will surely be thought provoking and insightful. Enjoy!
